Title : Synthesis and characterization of iron nanoparticles of Moringa oleifera (Lam); Use as larvicidal and adulticidal against rural dengue vector Aedes albopictus (Skuse) (Diptera: Culicide)

Development of insecticide resistance against the chemical synthesized insecticides and high operational cost of secondary plant resources as well as other vector controlling strategies, intake a step towards a new controlling tool with urgent basis. The present study was aimed to develop an alternative approach with low cost and healthy environmental aspects to control most prominent dengue vector in rural areas by using green synthesis of iron nanoparticles of Moringa oleifera (Lam). The synthesized FeNPs were found to be amorphous in morphology, respectively. CuNPs were tested against Aedes albopictus (Skuse) third instars larvae and adult, it was found that LC50 and LC90 was recorded 12.49 and 26.351 ppm while KDT50  and KDT90  were calculated 23.246 and 43.256 minutes respectively. The study was also compare with other methods and the results indicates that use of FeNPs as dengue vector control would be better approach with eco-friendly and economically.

Audience Take Away:

  • New technology for mosquito control with effective approach.
  • Statistical analysis of larvicidal and adulticidal methods.
  • Effective approach to control the vectors in resistance developed area.
  • One step formulation, low cost development, low laborious work.
