Title : Formation and detailed internal structure of four-way symmetrically translated decagonal tiles

Abstract:

Four-way symmetric 2-D translational unit tiles is constructed and converted into a two-dimensional atomic site pattern, which includes multiple pentagonal clusters, circular clusters, and three types of face-centered clusters. They are arrayed orderly in the unit cell with different separation distances. Then, a logical relationship between Penrose tiles and quasicrystals can be established. In addition, a semi-three-dimensional quasicrystal is created by stacking 2-D unit cell. Based on this model, a high resistivity of a periodic metal alloy is explained.
